pasts (nostalgia link gallery)

delve into my past cyber experiences!

i remember the days. playing old flash games in elementary school, watching random youtube videos over and over again. this here is a recollections of as much of that time as i can, grabbing everything in my memory, adding to it as i remember things, saving these memories from being forever forgotten. the internet is only getting older, and before us is not only the largest library of human creation archived but also the largest graveyard of lost creations, left as a fuzzy cyber memory and a broken link.

games (web and mobile):

  • SILENT HILL: ROOM 304
I do not understand why this game stuck in the depths of my mind, but it did. Despite essentially being a poorly made flash game, this game has (or it did for me) the uncanny ability to have such a lack of effort put into it with the time it was made and how it has aged to make it a quite creepy and existential game. The poor quality flash images and unclear puzzles make you feel trapped in an empty and forgotten world as a lost soul, trying to find ways through your pre determined path. The plot is not the best, but when it wraps up you feel only more lost but glad you aren't stuck trying to decipher the clues of low quality stock photography from the early 2010s (pre AI). I would recommend sticking yourself in this game and staying there with no walkthrough until you finally beat it. As a kid, I did not get the puzzles at all and could not beat the game without a walkthrough, but upon replaying it I was able to beat the game just by sticking to it. The music is very good too, that flash game horror feeling has a lot of potential and is bringing ideas to my head. When getting back into this game recently, I did discover what I believe to be a sequel, SILENT HILL: FINAL REDEMPTION as it plays and feels very similar to the first, though not really as good, as my modern brain has such an unfair bias for nostalgia. Watching the credits for these games also brings an abandoned feeling, usernames of people that haven't though about their internet creation in years, completely moved on with a forgotten and left behind email and password, being completely detached from their game. It is a very strange feeling that I hope to explore more in this section of this website.

youtubes:

  • Spanish Kid Falling In Water
this used to be such a funny video that me and my brother would watch and make jokes about. my brother would find a lot of these random ass videos that we used to watch over and over again. the early days definitely had a quality over quantity aspect to it.
  • anne.jpg (SCREAMER ALERT)
my brother showed me this video when i was a young boy about a decade ago. he called me over to show me something on his laptop and he flashed this to me. that was the most scared and startled i have ever been, it was so sudden to me that i jumped back, screamed and cried and threw the nearest object at him, a home phone. i believe it was this the moment that allowed me to be interested in the 'strange, dark and mysterious' side of things. i hope to make a long article going into my history with this stuff.
  • Pipino de novo
i remember this video used to be part of this very long meme youtube playlist that was extremely popular around 2016 i believe. youtube would recommend this playlist to just about everyone, it began with a yee video or something.
  • SHITMAN
another classic me and my brother loved. funny video and epic song.
  • Les Trois Petits Cochons
my french teacher used to show this video so many times in class as we were learning about the 3 little pigs in french in i believe grade 4.
  • ULTIMATE TRY NOT TO LAUGH TEST!
a mega classic. i used to watch this video over and over again when i was like 8 and would think its the funniest thing ever. watching it now, its even funnier how funny i thought it was. as a little kid i found this video all on my own and decided to watch it a bunch of times.
  • GIFs with Sound #1
anotha mega classic. i treated this video very similarily to the one right above it. i swear i remember this exact video being named try not to laugh at one point and then changed, i wish we could appreciate individual forms of internet media like we used to. watched this so many times.
  • Hitler's Suicide Note ~ Rucka Rucka Ali
my brother would show this guys songs to me and we thought it was so funny, it was stupid and edgy and all just a joke. no worries, the type of content that lives uniquely on the internet. the osama bin laden one is funny too. youtube classics that have seem to have been attempted to be banned.
  • 2204355
i can't find the original by itself but it was just dat dude dancing with two chicken wings, i don't know why its so hard to find as just the video by itself. i remember my close friend showing me this in elementary school, that if you went to google and typed '2204355' and clicked 'im feeling lucky', you would be brought straight to this funny video, now it doesnt work. the song is fire and this is a classic meme.
  • Squidward's Suicide
i remember getting into creepypasta and mysterious things on the internet and finding this fan made squidward's suicide episode that i probably almost thought was real for a second long ago. this video makes me have a notable preference for the first song (requiem for a dream) and the last song (creep by radiohead). it gives them a nostalgia from relating back to this video. i was always creeped out by this video, how it gets so silent at parts and how distrubing it is for kids show characters.
  • The Cailou Collab! (YTP)
this was that funny era of initial internet independance where me and my friends would find great enjoyment in these very crude types of content that constantly made everything sexual for the sake of comedy, it was thrilling at that age long ago. even watching a bit of this now makes me laugh from how stupid it is, ytp's are the original brainrot, followed by mlg and then eventually brainrot. people act like gen alpha is done for because of what they watch, what about all the young boys who spent their free time watching ytp's and mlg's?
  • Sad Story (Animated Short Film)
i don't know why this stuck as something to remember, but it was darn sad when i watched it many years ago. i wouldn't be surprised if i cried to this, i took it that seriously. i once randomly played the song in this video at a party a while ago and it was worth it as my one friend got it after a while of pondering where the song was from (this video)
  • John Cena Prank Call
this was so funny when it went viral. it helped explode all those john cena memes and because of it everyone made jokes about saying john cena stuff whenever they are on the phone. bring prank calling back!
  • Ain't Nobody Got Time For That
this remix was probably the earliest of the song remixes i got very into and deserves its own entry for being so good on its own. very enjoyable. me and my brother used to find all the random clips in this video so funny.
  • Rage Comics - LEMMiNO
these are classics that should go in a internet hall of fame. these added another dimension to the meme canon of all the silly meme faces like derp, troll face and never alone which would make returns throughout the years and have an expansion in canon through the creation of wojacks (2016 and beyond, everything got very political). in one of these episodes it portrays a man making love to his goldfish, i remember watching this as a kid with a friend of mine at a sleepover and we turned the video off because this was too innapropriate for us. over time, the internet degrades. all mega relatable.
